Vintage Bareback is a challenge; primarily because it does not behave like any of your standard porn fare. What it really is – is a blog that comes with free streaming videos and uncensored images – if you decide to subscribe for a fee. Displaying all the trademarks of a blog, Vintage Bareback comes with two side bars that is screaming with tag keywords, ad placements and a long list of friends, affiliates and partners.

Navigating through such is a no-brainer that's for sure but that takes a slight change when these features are taken and utilized for a full blown site. For Vintage Bareback, it is especially perplexing since it has that "Join Now" tab visible even when you are right smack in the middle of the members' area.

Basically, the site is divided into four parts. Two pages are devoted to site info and links to pay per view movies and then there are the two major components. There's the blog aspect which can be seen as a 'News and Updates' page with previews and all. Then there's the 'VIP Room' that displays all the images and streaming movies.

Keep in mind that in the tour page, the site was not afraid to make claims such as retrieving 'long lost gay porn' and not merely satisfied with the era of Michael Jackson and hairspray – their efforts go as far back as the fifties. Thus, whatever reservations I had because of its interface/site design/indexing was eventually replaced with amazement as I found myself wading through decades of gay hardcore. I could not help but think of the many hours and days spent meticulously scouring for these hard to find materials.

The streaming videos have respectable resolutions and are at full lengths and despite its time period – they played quite well. I kinda expected mostly grainy or dimly shot footages here. Sure, some bad quality clips are around but that can't be avoided by vintage-retro themed sites altogether. The clips are a little slow but waiting for them has its rewards.

Another point to be amazed at are the number of rare magazine scans. The black and white portraits are at 800 x 700 dpi and should definitely be a part of anyone's collection. Again, the images take a while to load. Finally, subscription to Vintage Bareback also entitles you access to Lavender Lounge and Muscle Bear Club. Both sites are conceived in exactly the same manner as Vintage, thus expect more of that blog theme coming your way.

But, in all honesty, despite that lackluster layout and that other missing features (such as photo zips or movie downloads), Vintage Bareback is kinda cool.
